music discovery #1

i like looking for new music. it’s cool because when you’re exploring something like the world, there’s a limit. eventually you run out of land, and then water, and then air. pretty soon you’re stuck. you’re an explorer with nothing left to find.

music on the other hand, is an infinite frontier. you can never ever run out of music. it will always be there. endlessly coming back in huge massive amounts.

in honor of this new segment i would like to introduce you to…Chinese Traditional Erdhu Music 1 by Lei Qiang.

if you saw any of the opening ceremonies, you know how rich the culture of china is. i for one was wondering how the usa could ever match such a grand ceremony like that, not from a technological stand point, but simply from the standpoint of culturally.

this cd is a sneak peak into chinese culture. the music is brilliant yet simple. relaxing yet exciting. i’ve long been a fan of indian music and this was an easy pick up for me. honestly, just go on itunes, listen to the 30 second clips and thank me later.
